Called in Sick to My Network Marketing Biz: Eggnog Hangover

Well, the New Years is officially underway, and I couldn’t be more fired up! In your network marketing business, you probably noticed that during the last 3 or so weeks of the year your organization took a major dump.

Holiday mode, eggnog comas, and/or utter laziness plagued your whole organization.  And to end the year just as down hill as your numbers were going, swan diving off a 14 story hotel building onto cement sounded like the perfect solution.

Christmas time is usually a stressful enough as it is. The last thing you need is to have everyone decide almost a month early that building business can wait until New Years. You get excuse after excuse after excuse and it’s always the same result. The last couple weeks of December can and probably will be a horrible time for business. BUT, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.

That light is the New Year.

It really is crazy how everything can go from almost non existent momentum to utter chaos in just a few days. The New Year is that time people are looking to do “something different.” The goal for every networker and non-networker alike is to make the next 365 days better than the last. Goals get made, gym memberships sky rocket, health plans go into effect, cans get saved, coins get collected, the list goes on.

My favorite goal of them though, is that this is the perfect time to start a new opportunity.

It honestly is the best time for business. New Years is kind of like, instead of fishing with bait and a stick, you get to throw sticks of dynamite in the water first. Everywhere you look there are new people who will “give it a shot.” Now, obviously this is a horrible reason behind starting a new business venture, but hey, I’ll take it.. I don’t judge.

Actually, speaking of December being the month of “I don’t give a shit about anything productive,” I just went on a hiatus for about 2 weeks. I found myself literally building business for almost three years straight, never have taken a real vacation, and got to the point where I felt like I was going to strangle the next person who asked me a repetitive or dumb question.

I’m just kidding about the dumb question.  There are no dumb questions.  Oh, and the strangling thing… sort of.

Honestly, I got so burnt out that I decided to hang it up instead of using anymore energy on what I felt what was an uphill battle to begin with. Our numbers dropped(ugh), but it was nice being able to just wake up, spend time with my wife and of course, baby Hannah. Sometimes, we get so fired up about getting rich, that we don’t ever take a moment to enjoy the things that are our actual motivators. After all, don’t they just love to say “Sometimes you need to give up your Why to achieve your Why later on?”  You can never get enough motivational quotes in the Network Marketing world.  Sometimes I want to kick the person in the head whoever made this shit up.

So anyway, back to reality.  It’s already the second day of the year and already business is back into full swing. Three way calls, appointments, video conferences, prepping for New Year kick off events, and constant coaching are just a few of the activities that have already become the 2015 norm in under a day. Absolute madness, but the numbers have yet again done a 180, this time in the right direction. Can I get an Amen?

So my little advice to those who have stomached this article?  Just remember, more people get discouraged and quit during the end of the year because of the massive fallout. I think I probably quit 50+ times in the month of December. You just need to be strong and wait out the storm. A mentor of mine once told me that it’s a lot like being an ant.

Ants gather food during the warm seasons, so that they can survive during the winter. You just have to remember that no matter how good business treats you before those final weeks of the year, that you are prepared for the inevitable drop in productivity around the time Santa is loading his sleigh.

If you read this and any of it hit close to home, I encourage you to find a way to get yourself motivated.  Videos, books, audios, a swift kick is the ass, whatever it takes.  There’s too much money to be made during the month of January. Either you go get it, or someone else will.

I encourage you to share this post or comment below about your winter season!
